The Dubai Calicut Air India Express flight broke into two pieces at Kozicode Airport after overshooting tabletop runway and dropped 30 ft. Into a valley.
The flight with 191 people on board, IX1344, was part of the Vande Bharat repatriation mission. As per the latest information from state authorities, the search and rescue operation is over and all injured have been shifted to various hospitals, reported ANI. There as no fire reported at the time of landing. There were 174 passengers, 10 infants, 2 pilots and five cabin crew on board the aircraft.
The pilot-in-command Captain Deepak Sathe and his co-pilot Akhilesh Kumar were among those killed onboard the Dubai-Calicut Air India Express aircraft carrying 190 passengers as part of the Vande Bharat Mission. Over 18 passengers met their ill fate as death engulfed them.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), meanwhile, directed its personnel to go into quarantine as a precautionary measure after at least two passengers of the flight tested positive for Covid-19, PTI reported.
