SUNDAYS WITH HRIDAAN
The Beetle Hridaan reads The Beetle – a Hans Andersen tale. The author tells the story of a beetle who is very conceited. He lives in the imperial stables; in the very same stable as the Emperor’s horse. When the Emperor rewards his favourite horse by giving him golden shoes, because he has carried him safely across the battlefield, the beetle thinks that he too should be given golden shoes. The blacksmith refuses to do this. The beetle feels slighted and insulted, and thinks that he is not properly appreciated at home.”Insults and ridicule! I’ve had enough. I’m going out into the world to make my fortune,” he says.Later as you listen to Hridaan, you realize that the Beetle has made a mistake. He is a loser. And, when a mischievous boy ties him to the boat and drags in water, Hridaan tells us his way that we should not play mischief and pranks. Born on 2nd April, Hans Christian Andersen was a Danish author, fairy tale writer, and poet noted for his children’s stories. These include “The Steadfast Tin Soldier,” “The Snow Queen,” “The Little Mermaid,” “Thumbelina,” “The Little Match Girl,” and “The Ugly Duckling.” 2nd April is also celebrated as World Children’s Day and it was this day, Hridaan spoke his first story on stage at YMCA Club during Ilaxi Patel ‘Storytelling Session’
