A Business clinic for Women Entrepreneurs was launched in Ahmedabad by Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Business Women Wing (GCCI-BWW) on 20th May 2013.
The inauguration of the Business clinic was made by Hon. Minister Vasuben Trivedi, State Minister for Education, Women and Child Development. Mayor of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, Smt. Meenakshi Patel was felicitated on the ocassion for her life long achievement and being appointed as first Women Mayor.
The clinic has been created to support and guide women entrepreneurs and resolve their doubts at various stages of development. Though a Help Desk had been functioning, this initiative of Business Clinic will serve a platform to Entrepreneurs to ensure that timely and proper guidance is made available to them. The Business Clinic will consist of two main divisions namely, the Helpdesk and Late Beginners Cell. “There are potential women entrepreneurs who are willing to open their own business and bear the capability to do so too, but lack direction,” said Meena Kaviya, chairperson of BWW.
As initiated by Chairperson Meena Kaviya of GCCI, BWW and supported by Co-chairperson Veena Parikh, the Helpdesk will consist of Expert Members who will provide guidance to Entreprenurs and resolve their queries related to Business, would cover ideas for new projects, provide guidance to fresh start or help to existing ventures. They will even provide help to create Project Reports. Marketing, information of local Trade Fairs, Information Technology, Finance and Banking and other areas where help will be offered by GCCI BWW Team and Expert Advisors. The issues related to loan management, Banks role in Project, restructuring Finance, understanding Government Schemes and covering subsidy, budget highlights, tax queries and legal structure to business guidance will also be taken care of by the GCCI BWW Business clinic.
As informed by Chairperson Meena Kaviya, “There are potential Women Entrepreneurs in the age group of 30 to 35 years who have comparatively dispensed themselves from the social obligations and want to fresh start a Business of their own. Due to lack of guidance they are unable to start Business inspite of ideas in their mind. The Late Beginners Cell will aim to provide guidance and training to such prospective women Entrepreneurs and encourage them to start their Business Venture”, she said.
Hon. Minister Vasuben Trivedi and Mayor Meenakshi Patel handed over the Certificates to participants of Vibrant Gujarat Global Trade Show – Garima 2013, a pavilion wherein about 44 women put up their stalls.
Hon. Minister Vasuben spoke on the Rural culture of Women Entrepreneurs. She encouraged the participants and called for igniting minds to work in specific areas and encouraged Women to proudly stand tall amidst all their social and professional obligations. She opined that Women can par excel in any field and through the various schemes of Government like the Mission Mangalam can avail Government subsidy falling under the schemes. She shared her life long experience working in Rural areas and inspired women to move forward to reach their goals by hard work and striving to move ahead in the field of commerce and trade.
Mayor Smt. Meenakshi Patel had inspired the Chamber women with her openness and spiritual thinking. She went on to compare Women with the Goddesses and said, “Women are MBAs and experienced in management – be it home to finance. Mayor Meenakshi Patel put more weight to Health Issues rathar than Entrepreneurs and said, “Today, the topic is on Business Clinic but I will be focusing on Health Issues.” She showed concerns for Iron and Calcium deficiency in women and advised to take the intakes – fresh vegetables, fruits, beans and even reduce stress levels which may harm their health, ultimately effecting their Business.
The Expert Panel Members were introduced by Chairperson Meena Kaviya at the event. Mr. Rajiv Joshi, Faculty EDI will advise on marketing queries. Ms. Neha Desai, Faculty, AMA will address Computer related queries. Mr. Rajes Kapre, SIDBI knowledge Partner will attend Banking queries. Mr. DO Shah, Retd. Addl Industries Commission will attend Government related queries. Mr. Dhinal Shah, Chartered Account and an expert will address Taxation queries. Mr. Gopinath Amin, Sr. Advocate will be looking over legal issues and other various BWW Members will stand by for any Business related queries of Women Entrepreneurs.
Some Special Awards were declared for which, Prof. Vasuben Trivedi gave the Awards. Special Appreciation had been conferred upon Grishma Trivedi, an active GCCI BWW Executive ommittee member, who played an active role with GCCI BWW and K & D Communications Ltd., the Organizers of the VGTF 2013. She had run from post to pillars to provide help to the wing and members.
GCCI BWW Executive Committee Member and Fashion Designer of U/C Studio, Urvi Chauhan received the Award for Highest Sale at the Vibrant Gujarat Trade Fair 2013. Smt. Nima Oza recieved an Award for Jewellery sale and Mona Gadhavi for Best Stall Decoration.
All the remaining Stall Holders were appreciated for their participation and inspired to continue to strive to higher planes and reach their goals.
Present at the Inauguration were the GCCI Chairperson Meena Kaviya, Co Chairperson Veena Parikh, all Executive Committee members, main wing GCCI President Prakash Bhagwati, Mr. Shankerbhai Patel, Mr. Hingu, Past Chairpersons, Senior GCCI BWW members and participants. The Expert Panel members were also present on the ocassion.
