Amdavadis will now get a chance to be part of philatelic history, with India Post set to launch personalised postal stamps. From April 7, citizens can get personalised, commemorative postage stamps with their photographs on them.
The postal department will print six thumbnail photographs of the customer along with six selected commemorative postage stamps.

A set of dozen such stamps will cost Rs 300, with each stamp costing Rs 5, a source said. While customers can get their own photographs for printing, they can even get their photographs clicked at the post office where they will be give printouts within minutes. These personalised postage stamps can be used as personal gifts. One can even immortalise their elders through these stamps. The minimum size of the photograph has to be passport size.
Citizens can call for appointments to avoid waiting queue. The department will revert with a time for them. One can get anything from a person’s photograph to company logo, animals, birds etc printed on these special stamps, the department draws a line at dead people.
“The customer will simply have to fill up a form with details like name, address, contact details, and provide a copy of their identity proof. Corporate customers will be required to submit an application on the official letter pad.
The service will be launched on April 7 at the General Post Office on Relief Road.
