“Sorry for all the noise, Inspector” Mr. Mistry said. The Inspector was surrounded by whirring and grinding and clanking machines in Mr. Mistry’s wood working shop. His students were all busy creating all kinds of wood art. Mr. Mistry said, “I suppose you have heard about the robbery last night?” The Inspector replied, “Of course, Yes. I am sorry. Any idea who took the money?” Mr. Mistry nodded. “The only time the money was discussed was when my two partners came into the shop. It was so noisy and no one could have heard our conversation” The Inspector questioned the students. The first student replied, “No, I don’t know anything. I left after work” The other students told the same basic story. The Inspector went to the last student in a row who was busy working. “Excuse me” he began, but the student did not pay any heed and continued with his job. Again the Inspector said in a louder tone but the main was engrossed in his work. Finally, the Inspector shouted, “Excuse me, Mr.whatever – You are under arrest”

How did the Inspector know he was the robber?

Answer

When Mr. Mistry and his partners discussed money, it was noisy and nobody can hear their talks. But, this student was deaf and could read their lips and knew what they were saying! Moreover, when the Inspected called him, again he had signs of withdrawal and did not hear his voice.
